We work together

“Enjoying, preserving and protecting nature in Malmesbury and the surrounding area now and for the future”
  • We are a non-profit organisation made up of members in and around Malmesbury who have a passion for the natural world.
  • Our activities are funded through memberships, events and the generosity of volunteers and donors.
  • We run nature walks in the local area, organise talks on wildlife and run nature-friendly projects based in our communities.

The Committee…

All our volunteers share a passion for the great outdoors and everything it encompasses. Full of enthusiasm and knowledge, they’re only too pleased to pass it on to our members and those who visit us at our regular events.

Partners…

We work with a number of local groups to deliver our events:

Malmesbury River Valleys Trust who manage the local nature reserve Conygre Mead.

Wiltshire Mammal Group support mammal conservation in Wiltshire by running surveys, organising training workshops and events, encouraging submission of records and loaning equipment.

Wiltshire Bat Group linked to Wiltshire Mammal Group, coordinate volunteers to deliver a number of projects and surveying of bats across Wiltshire.

Tools…

There are a variety of tools we use as part of our events and surveys:

iRecord is a platform for recording and exploring wildlife sightings in the UK; we encourage everyone to submit records to contribute towards regional biodiversity data.

Merlin Bird ID app is a useful bird ID guide, particularly for identifying bird calls. Note it’s always best to back up sound guides with visual sightings.

Pl@ntNet app helps ID a range of plants from photographs.
